James is a pair of semi-fitted, straight pants gathered at the hems with wide elastic. The elastic is secured with two lines of topstitching. The pants feature slash pockets at the front and mid-thigh gusseted cargo pockets with flaps at the sides. There are decorative tabs made out of twill tape at the center of the pocket flaps. The front leg has knee tucks along the inseams and side seams. There is a faux fly in the center front seam. The applied elasticated waistband has a drawstring casing with twill tape threaded through it. The waistline is slightly lowered. The pants are ankle-length.

Choosing a size for a protruding tummy
For men: to choose the right size for bottom garments, use the hip measurement, but account for the option of wearing a belt.
Option 1: If a belt is worn underneath the protruding tummy in a bottom garment, then the size is chosen according to the hip measurement (without accounting for the protrusion). The waist is measured exactly where the belt is worn.
Option 2: If a belt is worn around the protruding tummy in a bottom garment, then the size is chosen according to the hip measurement plus the tummy protrusion. The waist is measured exactly where the belt is worn.
To sew these pants, choose knit fabrics or suiting fabrics with the following properties:
- soft, breathable, stretchy or slightly stretchy, medium to heavyweight
- the fiber content can include natural fibers (wool, cotton, linen), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (wool + polyester, cotton + polyester, cotton + elastane, etc.) and synthetics (polyester, polyester + elastane)
- the following fabrics are recommended: thick French terry, sweatshirt fleece, ponte di roma, heavyweight cotton, gabardine, denim, corduroy
