Miwa is a soft padded sleep mask. It features an elastic head strap and piping that curves around the entire edge of the mask.

To sew this sleep mask, choose dress-weight fabrics with the following properties:
- medium weight, soft, non-stretch, opaque
- the fiber content can include natural fibers (silk), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (silk + polyester, silk + viscose, etc.), and synthetics (polyester)
- the following fabrics are recommended: artificial or natural silk, satin, modal.
Attention! We do not recommend heavyweight structured fabrics and lightweight sheer fabrics.
The sleep mask in the photo is made of artificial silk. The fabric is soft, with some bounce, non-structured, and double-sided. The fiber content is 100% polyester. The fabric weight is 235 g/m2.
The mask is padded with insulation material (alpolux). The fiber content is a blend of 15% wool and 85% microfiber. The weight is 100 g/m2.
1. Main fabric, 140 cm (55") wide, with a directional print/nap — 0.15 m (1/8 yd)
2. Insulation material, 150 cm (59") wide — 0.15 m (1/8 yd)
IMPORTANT! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.
3. Lightweight knit or woven interfacing, 140 cm (55”) wide, for all sizes in all heights — 0.15 m (1/8 yd)
4. Satin piping, 1 cm (3/8") wide — 53 cm (20 7/8")
5. Elastic, 1.5 cm (5/8") wide — 32 cm (12 5/8"). The exact elastic length is specified on the pattern piece
6. Matching thread — 1 spool
- sewing machine for construction
- one-sided foot for the sewing machine to attach the piping
- elastic threader (may be replaced with a safety pin)
- loop turner
Once the order is paid, within 1 minute you will receive an email with the details of the order and a link to your personal account, where the following will be available for download:
1. The pdf pattern in your chosen size, in the following formats: Letter, A4, A0 and plotter format. The size of the plotter format is indicated in the name of the document. You will need a plotter printer that can print at least 900 mm width. Note that for height categories 3 and 4, the plotter pattern comes on 2 pages.
2. Detailed instructions which include cutting layouts, construction steps accompanied by photos, as well as instructions on how to work with Vikisews patterns (printing, taping, adjusting, sewing terminology).
